I have been trying for two days to get a quote for my 17 year old sons car, citreon c3 1.4 diesel, quotes coming back are nearly three grand :x the young girls I teach are getting quotes for £800.00 onwards, are the insurence companys Discriminating against the boys :?

I have tried everyway I can to get the policy down, new policy with my wife, and son as second driver, value of car £0,third party only, but it still comes back at sillly prices

It is common amongst insurers that young male drivers are charged more than young females. This is due to the claim statistics provided by various organisations showing that young males, especially between 17-19, are more likely to have an accident than young females.

I would agree with 'macc', Endsleigh are a good company for young drivers, and at one point were affiliated with the National Student Union as officially recommended company. If possible though, I would avoid using the accelerated bonus schemes such as the one mentioned below, as they often cause problems in the future as some insurers refuse to accept it as earnt no claims bonus.

Thanks,
